Library’s These Days

Did you know that in my city and state, that our libraries won’t let anyone have a library card if they don’t have an electric bill with their name on it?

That’s crazy. Some people live with others that pay the electric bills.

People have to have an address also. Some people have no home. They may have a p. o. box. But to the library, that isn’t acceptable.

Years ago when my husband was alive, we both lived in the same house and one of us paid one bill and the other paid another bill.

The library let us get a library card without any such rules.

When we went to the library we saw the homeless people reading books. They were there out of the weather, used the facilities and drank the water.

The rules for them was, they had to read something in order to stay.

After about 4 years of not going to the library, I went back. I was going to get a new card. They wouldn’t allow one without my electric bill. They wouldn’t take my driver’s license.

I don’t know what the new rules for the homeless are now.

But I’m going to investigate them and find out why the new rules for everyone. If they’ll let me. I’ll record it.

I love to read children's books to children and the young at heart. Then I love nature and animals and take pictures of them. Also I love traveling and learning the history of each state/city. The other things I like to do is teach survival and crafts. I love to help people know they can do almost anything they want.
